Inventory management system
Built for a mid-size distributor's warehouse team, replacing manual stock tracking with a single source of truth.
Real stock levels, checked live — not counted by hand.
The problem
Stock was tracked across spreadsheets and paper logs, so counts depended on someone remembering to update them. That gap led to numbers nobody fully trusted — mismatched counts, items marked in stock that weren't, and no reliable way to catch it until something ran out.
What was built
A QR-based SKU scanning system where every item carries a code tied to its internal identifier. Scanning updates the count immediately — no spreadsheets, no paper logs.
- →Custom scanner built to run off a phone camera
- →Immediate stock updates when items are issued or returned
- →Counts reflect what is actually on the shelf, without waiting on someone to update a sheet
Day to day
A warehouse worker picks up an item, scans its QR code with their phone, and the stock count updates instantly. When it's returned, they scan it again and the count adjusts. No opening spreadsheets, no paper logs to reconcile later — the system stays in sync with the shelf in real time.
